Kobo Smith Sapporo, a handmade wedding ring, engagement ring, and pair ring studio in Hokkaido, conducted a survey of customers who visited the store in May 2025 to see/produce wedding and engagement rings.

Survey Results:
Less than 100,000~150,000 yen: 36
Less than 150,000~200,000 yen: 28
Less than ¥200,000~250,000: 4%.
Less than ¥250,000~¥300,000: 20%.
Less than 300,000~350,000 yen: 8%.
In a survey on wedding ring budgets, the most common response was "100,000 to less than 150,000 yen" at 36%, followed by "150,000 to less than 200,000 yen" at 28% and "250,000 to less than 300,000 yen" at 20%. It is apparent that many couples are choosing rings within a reasonable range, mainly in the price range of 100,000 to early 200,000 yen. This is characterized by the fact that even amidst the impact of rising prices, solid budgeting continues to be a feature of the market.

Survey Results:

Less than 300,000~400,000 yen: 50%.
Regarding the budget for engagement rings, 50% of respondents chose "less than ¥100,000 to ¥200,000" and 50% each chose "¥300,000 to ¥400,000. The average purchase price for a typical engagement ring is around 370,000 yen, but in this survey, an equal number of respondents chose a price range slightly more affordable than the average and a price range closer to the national market rate. It is apparent that people tend to choose rings within a reasonable range according to their own lifestyles and sense of values.

30-34 years old: 33%
35-39 years old: 2%
45-54 years old: 6%
The "25-29" age group accounted for the largest percentage at 42%, followed by the "30-34" age group at 33% and the "20-24" age group at 17%. It can be seen that the main group purchasing wedding and engagement rings is in their late 20s and early 30s. There were also responses from the "35-39" age group (2%) and the "45-54" age group (6%), indicating that people of all ages are selecting rings.

The most common reason for visiting the Kobo Smith Sapporo main store was "semi-custom or custom-made service" (29%). This was followed by "Word of mouth and good reputation" (24%) and "Full lineup of set rings" (12%). Other points that were highly rated were "good balance between quality and price" and "excellent after-sales service," indicating that service and track record in meeting a wide range of needs are motivating customers to come to the store. It is apparent that many customers tend to value individuality and trustworthiness, such as custom-made products and word-of-mouth.

Sixty-seven percent of the respondents answered that they "have decided" on the date of their wedding, indicating that about two-thirds of the respondents have set a specific date. On the other hand, 33% of respondents answered that they "have not decided," indicating that a certain number of couples are still in the preparation stage or considering the date. This reflects the progress of marriage preparation and the diversity of life plans.

Survey Results:
Yes: 19%.
No: 81%.
Only 19% of respondents answered "yes" to the question of wedding plans, while the majority (81%) answered "no." This indicates a trend of an increasing number of couples who either do not hold weddings or are undecided. This may be due to the diversification of wedding styles since the Corona Disaster, as well as the fact that cases in which couples choose only to join a registry are becoming more common.
The results of this year's survey revealed that an increasing number of couples are emphasizing "personal style" and "reasonable budget" when purchasing wedding and engagement rings. In particular, there is a growing tendency to emphasize "experience" and "trust," such as semi-custom, custom-made rings and good word-of-mouth. The form of marriage is also diversifying, with the majority of couples not holding weddings.
In the future, we expect that even more "personalized services" and "flexible product proposals" will be required. We hope to meet the needs of even more couples by continuing to provide attentive services that are in tune with the values and lifestyles of each and every one of our customers.
