In the manufacturing experience, you can deepen your bond by working together to create a one-of-a-kind work of art. In the gourmet experience, you can enjoy delicious ingredients and rare gourmet foods unique to Hokkaido and encounter new tastes. Art museums offer an opportunity to hone one another's sensibilities through art appreciation and discover new aspects of each other. Factory tours provide an interesting opportunity to learn about the manufacturing process that cannot usually be seen, as well as to experience the delicious taste of freshly made products. Aquariums are ideal for spending a romantic time in a fantastic atmosphere and enjoying interactions with living creatures.
These facilities will allow you to have a wonderful time bringing the two of you closer together without worrying about the weather.
Sapporo has an abundance of facilities where you can experience making things that you can enjoy on a date.
We recommend handcrafting rings to give shape to your memories, or working together to create a single piece of pottery or glasswork. By creating a one-of-a-kind original work of art together, you will be able to strengthen your bond.
Located in the Keio Plaza Hotel Sapporo in the heart of Sapporo, Kobo Smith offers a pair ring handcrafting experience to give shape to your memories with that special someone. Experienced craftsmen provide careful support so that even those who are new to metalworking can create one-of-a-kind original rings with confidence.

The rings are made of silver and are available in a wide range of widths from 2mm to 10mm. You can experience the process that professional craftsmen perform, such as adjusting the size of the ring by tapping it with a mallet and polishing it to the desired texture. The process takes only about one hour, and you can take the completed ring home with you on the same day. It is a great place to stop by on a quick date or between sightseeing tours.

For those who want to add even more individuality, we offer a full range of options such as color coating, stone setting, and engraving. For example, gold color coating can be applied to silver rings to prevent them from darkening and to give them a more glamorous look. A more personalized ring can be completed by attaching a birthstone of your choice or engraving a special message. Please note, however, that if you choose color coating, it will take 3 to 5 weeks to complete.
Experienced craftsmen who also make engagement rings will carefully instruct you, so there is no need to worry even if you feel clumsy. Through metalworking, which is a rare experience, you can strengthen your bond with your loved one and create a special memory that will remain in your heart. Online reservations are available, so why not add it to your Sapporo date or sightseeing plans?

Reservations can be easily made online, so be sure to add it to your Sapporo travel plans.

Maruyama Tobo, located in Chuo-ku, Sapporo, offers a one-day handcrafting experience of authentic ceramic art. It is easily accessible, being about a 5-minute walk from Maruyama Koen Station on the Subway Tozai Line and close to the center of Sapporo, making it easy to stop by during a break from shopping or sightseeing. There are two types of experience menus: "hand-bi neru" and "motorized rokuro," both of which are carefully supported by instructors so that even beginners can enjoy them.
In the Tebineri (hand molding) experience, you can take your time to create a piece at your own pace as you mold the clay by hand. You can make about 2 to 3 pieces of bowls, cups, etc. The electric potter's wheel experience is a full-scale pottery-making experience using a potter's wheel to shape clay, allowing you to make about two teacups, plates, and other items. The pieces you make will be fired in about 3 weeks to 1 month, and you can pick them up or have them sent to you by mail (postage for mailing is extra).
The experience is also available in the evening on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, making it a great option for an after-work date. The one-of-a-kind vessel you create will be a special item for the two of you to use together, and it will also be a wonderful memory to give as a gift to each other. The pottery-making experience is a great way to preserve memories in a tangible form, and is also perfect for an indoor date on a rainy day.

Located in Higashibarado, Kita-ku, Sapporo, a short distance from JR Sapporo Station, Glass Studio GLOW is a recommended spot for couples to have a special experience. Here, you can feel the heat and transparent beauty of molten glass on your skin while creating one-of-a-kind, original glasses together through a glass-blowing experience. Don't worry if this is your first time. The staff at the workshop will carefully guide you one-on-one, so there is no need for specialized knowledge or skills.
This experience is open to anyone from elementary school age and up, and takes about 30 minutes to complete a single piece. While it is possible to participate alone, it is also fun for couples to make a piece of artwork for each other. This is a great way to make a souvenir of a trip to Hokkaido, or to celebrate an important milestone, such as a wedding or the birth of a child. Since the pieces are cooled overnight, you cannot take them home with you on the same day. You can choose to pick it up at the studio the next day or later, or have it delivered by mail (additional shipping fee required).
The glass works created by the two of you will vividly remind you of your happy memories in Sapporo every time you use them in your daily life. A day when you have no special plans is a good opportunity to try something new, like a glass blowing experience. Why not spend a wonderful time with your loved ones at Glass Studio GLOW, as passionate as molten glass and as transparent as the finished glass works?

Not only does watching fish swim in a large aquarium provide an extraordinary experience, but it also creates a great atmosphere for an aquarium date. Sapporo also has an aquarium that is perfect for a date.
Located in Atsubetsu-ku, Sapporo, Sunpiazza Aquarium is an urban aquarium adjacent to a commercial facility directly connected to JR Shin-Sapporo Station and Shin-Sapporo Subway Station. It is well known as the only aquarium in Sapporo that does not face the sea. Despite its compact size, the aquarium is well worth seeing as it houses and exhibits as many as 10,000 marine creatures of about 200 species, mainly from the Hokkaido area.
The museum is home to popular creatures such as penguins, seals, and otters, as well as rare fish such as clione and water buffalos. The largest tank in the museum, the migration tank, is particularly impressive, with approximately 1,500 colorful fish swimming around. The Kuroshio Sea, which stretches from Okinawa to Kochi Prefecture, is reproduced here, and visitors can observe giant stingrays swimming with ease.
The Sunpiazza Aquarium also holds events that allow visitors to learn more about the ecology of the creatures. At the daily "Mogumogu Time" event, visitors can watch the sargassum seals, Cape penguins, and otters eat food with commentary from the aquarium keepers. Also, on Sundays and holidays, a feeding show by marine staff is held in the migration tank, where visitors can observe the rare scene of fish eating food from their hands up close.
In addition, there is a "touching pool" where visitors can directly touch the creatures, and a corner where visitors can watch a power generation experiment with electric lampreys, allowing visitors to enjoy not only watching but also experiencing the exhibit. In winter only, the "Osakana-no-footbath" (footbath for fish) with doctor fish is available, and seasonal exhibits can be enjoyed as well, so visitors can make new discoveries no matter how many times they visit.
The Sunpiazza Aquarium is located next to a shopping mall, making it an easy stop while shopping. It is also recommended as a date spot, as you can enjoy the whole day without worrying about the weather, even on rainy days. The estimated time required is one to one and a half hours, but you can stay longer if you take the time to look around and enjoy the events.
Admission is 1,200 yen for adults (high school students and older), 400 yen for children (3 years old to junior high school students), and 800 yen for senior citizens (65 years old and older). Annual passports and group discounts are also available. Access by car is also convenient, as there is a 2-hour free parking service when using the parking lot of a commercial facility.

For art lovers and couples who want to spend a relaxing and quiet time, an indoor date at an art museum or museum is recommended. Here are some museums and planetariums recommended for dates.
The Hokkaido Museum of Modern Art, opened in 1977, is a provincial museum that collects and exhibits mainly works of art from Hokkaido since the Meiji period. It is also unique in that it actively collects post-modern works from Japan and abroad, especially glass art and works from the Ecole de Paris. The museum has over 6,000 works in its collection (as of the end of March 2025), and holds "Chikami Collection" exhibitions that introduce these collections under various themes, as well as "Special Exhibitions" that showcase outstanding works from Japan and abroad. The museum also has a café where visitors can take a break from viewing the exhibitions and enjoy a cup of authentic coffee. Drinks taken out from the café can be enjoyed in the sofa space in the glass-walled lobby on the second floor while enjoying the view.
Access to the museum is good, about a 5-minute walk from Nishi 18-chome Station on the Tozai Subway Line and about a 1-minute walk from the "Doritsu Museum of Modern Art" bus stop on the JR and Chuo Buses. However, the museum's parking lot has been discontinued, so visitors must use a nearby toll parking lot. Museum users can also receive discounts at affiliated parking lots. The museum is closed on Mondays and during the year-end and New Year holidays. However, if Monday is a national holiday or a substitute holiday, the museum will be open on Monday and closed on the following Tuesday.

The indoor art museum holds special exhibitions from time to time, introducing a wide variety of domestic and international art works, with a focus on works by artists associated with Hokkaido. Visitors are sure to discover something new each time they visit. The open-air museum, which makes the most of its vast grounds, allows visitors to appreciate sculptures scattered throughout the natural surroundings. Israeli sculptor Dani Karavan's "Path to the Hidden Garden" is a particularly popular work, allowing visitors to experience the world of her work while feeling the natural surroundings.
